The WAW Hunting Academy is designed to help new and aspiring hunters build the knowledge and confidence needed for a successful time in the field. Through beginner-friendly classes covering topics like regulations, species, scouting, and outdoor skills, you'll gain the foundation to get from the classroom to the wild.

Do I need to have completed Hunter Education?

Not always! Some classes are open to everyone, while others may recommend or require Hunter Education. Each class description will list any prerequisites.

I'm completely new to hunting. Is this for me?

Absolutely! The Hunting Academy is designed with beginners in mind. Many of our classes are built specifically for those who want to learn but aren't sure where to start.

Are these classes hands-on?

Most Hunting Academy classes are offered online through self-paced courses and live webinars, so you can learn from wherever you are and at your own pace.

Select in-person classes and workshops may also be offered throughout the year for additional hands-on learning opportunities. Check the current schedule for upcoming options.

Can experienced hunters take these classes?

Yes! While many classes are beginner-focused, experienced hunters often attend to sharpen their skills, learn about new species, or better understand California regulations.
